Fabrication For industry + individuals

Plastix is specialised in the professional Fabrication of acrylic and other plastics, such as polycarbonate and PVC . We use modern technology including UV and 2K adhering.

At Plastix, we fabricate acrylic, polycarbonate, PVC and many other materials. Shape is not an issue: whether it’s a sheet, tube or rod, we can adhere it durably for you. A mark of our quality is that we make sure the joins are free of air bubbles. At Plastix we can carry out mitre joining, butt joining and surface joining of multiple sheets and panels. Each kind of fabrication process requires a different type of processing.

Plastix has almost half a century’s experience in fabricating plastics. Our main speciality is fabricating pieces such as display cases, product risers, cabinets and dust covers to a museum-level quality. This means the bond is completely seamless and the edges are perfectly finished. No sign of adhesive residue remains, and the bond is so good that the different panels seem to flow into each other, so that the separate components become one.

Professional expertise

We are familiar with every aspect of fabricating plastic. Whether a single-component mitre join, or two-component butt join is needed, anything is possible. Museum-level quality is our standard.

Another option for joining materials is butt Joining. With butt joints, the ends remain straight and are joined together using UV or 2K adhesive. During Joining, the adhesive flows into the seam. It is then necessary to route and polish the material to produce a smooth result. Butt joining is recommended for large, heavy objects constructed using thick panels that need to be particularly strong, such as large cabinets, furniture or objects for interior applications. Butt joints are the strongest technique available.

Extremely strong joints

All joins not only have to look good, but they also must be functional too. Strength and durability are key when joining materials. Plastix makes sure that the joins are strong and long-lasting so that your projects stay beautiful and suitable for
long-term use.

Edges can be mitre joined or butt joined. With mitre joins, the edges are milled to 45 degrees and adhered together with a UV bond. The adhesive flows into the seam and is set off with a high transmitting UV light. Mitre joining is primarily chosen for display cases, dust covers, protective covers, check-out counters and cabinets. If transparent materials are being used, mitre joining is the most aesthetically pleasing solution.

Introducing our
machinery

In our fabrication work, Plastix generally uses 1K (UV bonding) for transparent sheets with a thickness of up to 50 mm. This produces strong, clear and flawless joins. For non transparent panels we switch to 2K bonding, for which we use Acrylic – 3, a 2-component adhesive to create durable and robust acrylic joins.
