Opal & Tinted Polycarbonate Sheets

Impact-resistant sheet with light-diffusing and tinted finish options

Opal and tinted polycarbonate retain polycarbonate's impact-resistant character while changing light transmission and appearance. Opal sheet is considered for diffused light, screening and opaque-looking protective panels, while tinted sheet can reduce brightness and create a darker viewing panel.

Availability is narrower than clear polycarbonate and varies by thickness. Plastix prices supported solid-sheet combinations online and sends special grades, multiwall products and unsupported finishes for quote review rather than assuming stock or price.

Opal, tint and special grades

Opal sheet diffuses light and obscures detail through the panel. Tinted polycarbonate changes visible light transmission without making the sheet fully opaque. The right option depends on whether the job is a light panel, guard, privacy screen, cover or architectural detail.

Twin-wall products, MR10 grades, Y25 and other specialist options are not interchangeable with standard solid polycarbonate. Include the exact grade or application so the team can confirm supply rather than substituting a visually similar product.

What to include with the order

Provide finished width and height, thickness, colour or tint, quantity and delivery postcode. Add hole centres, slots, cutouts and fixing details when the part is more than a rectangular panel.

A physical sample or supplier reference is recommended when light transmission, tint colour or visual matching matters. Screen colours are only a guide and can vary with lighting and panel thickness.

Common questions

What is opal polycarbonate used for?

Opal polycarbonate is considered where an impact-resistant panel also needs to diffuse light or obscure visibility. The exact transmission and grade should be confirmed for the application.

Can tinted polycarbonate be cut to size?

Yes. Supported tint and thickness combinations can be cut to size. Special grades and unsupported combinations are sent for stock and price review.

Are twin-wall polycarbonate sheets included?

Twin-wall products are treated as separate quote-only grades. Send the required colour, thickness, panel size, quantity and application so the correct product can be confirmed.
