How Laser Cutting Delivers 0.1mm Precision on Plastic Sheets

Laser cutting has transformed what's possible with plastic fabrication. At Plastix, our CO2 laser systems achieve tolerances of 0.1mm, that's thinner than a human hair. Here's how it works and why it matters for your project.

The process uses a focused beam of infrared light to vaporise material along a precise path. Because there's no physical contact with the sheet, there's zero mechanical stress, no blade wear, and no risk of cracking or chipping. The result is a polished, flame-finished edge that often requires no further processing.

Laser cutting is particularly effective on acrylic, where it produces glass-like edges that are optically clear. For signage, display work, and architectural features, this eliminates the need for separate edge polishing, saving both time and cost.

Complex shapes, intricate patterns, and tight internal cutouts are where laser cutting really shines. Shapes that would be impossible or extremely time-consuming with a saw can be cut in minutes. We regularly produce custom lettering, decorative panels, and precision components that push the boundaries of what's possible with flat sheet material.

Our laser cutting service works with acrylic up to 50mm thick, and we can process both individual pieces and production runs. Upload your design files or provide dimensions, and we'll give you an instant quote.
